What if you had your own, personal Google search engine that searched the far corners of the Web for the very things that interested you, automatically and then delivered the results to you at regular intervals each day or even as the terms appeared? Does this sound awesome? Well, you can almost have all of that with Google Alerts.
Google Alerts are email updates of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, etc.) based on your choice of query or topic. Enter the topic you wish to monitor, then click preview to see the type of results you’ll receive. Some handy uses of Google Alerts include:
I use Google Alerts to monitor what people are saying about me (reputation management), what people are saying about my clients and what is being said about topics that interest me (the mythical “iPhone 5″ for instance). While Google’s Gmail still trails Microsoft’s email and Yahoo! in number of users, Gmail seems to control mindshare. I know Gmail users are hungry for ways to make it even more useful and below I compiled a list of some of best tips for Gmail:

Did you ever hit the *send* button on an email and then instantly know it was wrong and to grab it, only to realize that it was gone? There is a remedy for this issue through a Gmail tip.
If you use Gmail/Google Apps you need to know about this feature which started out in Google “Labs” and now is part of the Regular Gmail feature set.
This feature allows you to undo “sent” email for up to 10 seconds with the “undo” a sent email function. You may not need it often, but when you need, you REALLY need it.
You can find it by going to the Settings button on the right side and then under the General tab. Or take a look at this short video I made to show you how to find it.
